Teaching Philosophy

My image of the child is one that reflects the classroom environment I construct. This environment is holistic and engaging. Based on the theory, Culturally Relevant Pedagogy, my classroom is filled with the cultures, backgrounds, and interests of my own students. To ensure that they feel both comfortable and validated so that they can come ready to learn.

My teaching style is child-centered and creative. Ever since returning from my education abroad trip to Haifa, Israel this philosophy has become increasingly more important to me. Students learn best when lessons are constructed based on their own interests and desires. No matter what anyone tells you, there is always a way to connect interest and curriculum. You just have to be creative and listen to your students.
